Police Station Modernization
Modernization of the men’s and women’s locker rooms and administrative restrooms. The improvements for the locker rooms and restrooms consisted of new wall layouts, construction of a shear wall, underground plumbing, plumbing and electrical fixtures, relocation of fire sprinklers, showers and custom-made sinks, flooring and painting, energized lockers with built in receptacles, and a HVAC system.
Civic Theatre Improvements
The Civic Theatre Plaza and courtyard improvements consisted of an entirely new hardscape and softscape surrounded by an 8-foot block wall, radius stairs, a circular water fountain with a sculpture as the center piece, nine palm trees and planting, light fixtures, illuminated handrails and fencing. The project also includes a new exterior elevator supported by an exposed steel tower enclosed with glazing.
Fire Fighter Memorial Improvement
In honor of the City’s fallen firefighters, a memorial was built right outside of the City Hall. The Firefighter’s memorial consists of a pedestal as the centerpiece with a bronze statue of a kneeling firefighter on top it. The pedestal is complemented by a circular concrete seating arrangement & new landscaping. Work consisted of demolition of existing landscape and hardscape, and installation of new hardscape, landscape, concrete seating, pedestal, and lighting.
Library Café Shade Structure
The library café courtyard improvement consisted of a new tube steel shade structure with a canvas awning matching the colors of the City of Downey. Work includes the demolition of existing hardscape, and installation of new footings, brick finish floor and the large steel structure to support the shades of the canopy.
