HOPE ON BROADWAY

Hope on Broadway is an affordable housing project financed in part by the City of Los Angeles. The project is an effort to bring more affordable housing to the community. The Project was completed in August 2020.

Situated in the heart of Los Angeles, HOB represents a bold leap forward in urban development, showcasing the seamless integration of modular construction techniques to deliver high-quality, cost-effective housing solutions.

Spanning four stories, the building features a solid concrete foundation on the first floor, providing stability and durability. Above, the top three floors showcase the ingenuity of modular construction, with living units fabricated off-site in a local Southern California factory and seamlessly assembled on-site.

QUALITY CONTROL TO ENSURE SUCCESS

Our team of Project Managers and Project Engineers coordinated closely with all parties to ensure that the work is successfully completed.

HMCC does its own QC surveying with its in-house Trimble station. This ensures that nothing is missed in the process. For example, we verified the installation of 160 sleeves prior to the pour of the concrete podium deck.

SOLUTION DRIVEN

When issues came up regarding the architectural drawings for the modular elevator, HMCC stepped in to determine the correct solution. When the modular elevator was installed, it matched perfectly with the building.

As the supply-chain issues with Eaton’s breakers threatened the completion of the project, our team explored alternative solutions and delivered in a timely manner.

HMCC quickly adapted to the challenges of passing the 3-tier Housing inspections

A total of 69 modules with fully finished kitchens and restrooms are built off-site (local California factory). The modular units make up the top 3 floors of a 49-unit affordable housing apartment building.

The living units are fabricated in a factory in Southern California and assembled on site. The living units are studios with a living area of 300 sq. ft. and each living unit includes a kitchen and bathroom.

Dwelling units were delivered with all fixtures pre-installed in the factory, including kitchen cabinets & countertops, restroom sinks and bathtubs.

Strict requirements by the LA Housing Department needed to be met for final inspection, therefore, HMCC scheduled inspections for the first completed module at the factory.

This made the on-site inspections much easier.

All 49 dwelling units are ADA compliant.
